Film still, 2010

In 1988 when there was the Seoul Olympics, 22 female workers locked in the factory’s dormitory and suffocated to death by the fire in Anyang. People hardly remember this incident. As well as the unpleasant memory of the past, the memory of ‘paradise’ is also vaguely remained. According to the old record, there was the huge sized ‘Anyang Temple’ in Anyang surrounded by the beautiful mountains and streams around a thousand years ago. ‘Anyang’ means paradise in Buddhism, and there are still the traces of the temple. Exploring the places where struggle with the different time slots, the camera flows between paradise and hell in ‘Korean Way’. Rather than observing the city in a distance, the camera hunts, rests and plays just like a wild animal to respond and dance with the cityscape.
